What is Permanent Makeup?
Permanent Cosmetic Makeup is basically cosmetic tattooing, although women prefer not to refer to it as a "tattoo". The specialized techniques used for permanent cosmetic makeup are often referred to as "micropigmentation", "micropigment implantation" or "dermagraphics". The sophisticated cosmetic implantation technique deposits non-iron oxide pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.
Permanent Cosmetic Makeup procedures are performed using various methods, including the traditional tattoo or coil machines, the pen or rotary machine and the non-machine or hand method. The process includes an initial consultation (if needed), then application of pigment, and possibly one or more follow up visits for adjusting the shape and color or density of the pigment.
Permanent Makeup is actually a very affordable way to maintain your beauty and enhance those areas, which you feel, need special attention or focus.
If you are the type who likes to wear makeup however you simply do not have time to apply it everyday or perhaps you enjoy laying out at the pool, going to the beach or live a very active lifestyle, then permanent makeup is perfect for you!

- Who is a good candidate for Permanent Makeup?
- Busy, active, women who want to look good and save time

- Is the procedure painful?
Sensitivity varies with each individual. I offer a topical anesthetic to numb the area to be treated.
- Do I have a choice of colors?
Absolutely! There is a broad range of colors to choose from or bring your own lipliner/color and I will match it!!
- How long is the recovery period?
- There will be mild swelling and redness accompanying the procedure, but most customers are able to return to work or other social activities the same day.
- How long will it be until I see my final results?
It takes five to seven days for the initial healing period and it takes three to six weeks for the pigment to become permanently incorporated in the desired location. At this point your final results have been achieved.
- Will my permanent makeup fade?
During the initial period of three to six weeks, there will be a slight fading of the pigment as some of it is removed by your body. To counteract this natural response, a touch up may be necessary to achieve your desired results.
- I had my permanent makeup done by another technician, however I am not able to locate her and I need a touch up. Can you redo for me?
Yes of course, I will be happy to discuss your options however, please know that touch-up's from another technician will be charged at regular price.
- May I have more than one application of permanent makeup?
There is no limit to the amount of times you can have permanent makeup applied.
- Is it safe?
Yes. It has been proven to be safe through time. Tattooing has been done for hundreds of years. PMU has been popular in Asia for the last 30 years and has been in the US for the last 15 years. We use all disposable products.
- How much time will it take?
- The actual procedure time is approximately 30-45 minutes. However, please allow about 30 minutes to an hour extra to include preliminaries, such as establishing a design that will fit your face symmetry and creating the individual color formula.
- How long will it last?
PMU is a tattoo and will soften in time. The rate of the fading is determined by your skin (oily or dry), exfoliating agents, the sun, the original depth of implant, type of pigment, etc. We recommend that you get a touch-up (also known as a "color boost" or "retouch" every few years.
- Do I need to take time off from work?
Some people do, but it is not necessary. You can expect some tenderness and swelling after the first day. This is a normal side effect for the day following the procedure. Swelling may occur.
- What about allergic reactions?
Allergic reactions to pigment are not common, however a patch test can be done prior to the procedure. Keep in mind, allergies can develop at anytime. A popular reason for getting PMU is the allergies to cosmetics.

AREOLA REPIGMENTATION Following breast reconstruction surgeries, further attention is typically required to smooth out and blend in resulting scar tissue surrounding the areola. The color normally needs to be restored as well. You must wait one full year after the last incision is made in order to not compromise your surgeons work. Check with your insurance company regarding reimbursement. |
